Awards

AFLV provides a digital awards site for individual, chapter and council awards. We recognize our award winners each year at AFLV Central and AFLV West.

Councils have two opportunities to receive recognition:
Council Compass program
Marketing and Media Showcase

ASsessment

We also provide a collaborative space for council growth through application consultations in January and February.

This is an opportunity for council leaders to receive feedback and ask a committee member questions to improve current practices.

Council compass

The AFLV Council Compass program is a developmental program for councils that provides guidance in operations, critical thinking, addressing issues unique to the community culture, and encourages new ideas and initiatives a council can create and sustain that make a difference.

The Council Compass program culminates by recognizing councils and individuals for their growth and achievements in these areas.

Each year at AFLV Central and AFLV West, we recognize outstanding Greek, Interfraternity, Multicultural, National Pan-Hellenic, and Panhellenic Councils with the presentation of awards.

Directional Areas

Council Compass will ask your councils to reflect on their achievements in four directional areas:

  • Accountability icon

    Accountability

Ability to follow through, manage responsibly, and expect high standards from the community it governs

  • Collaboration icon

    Collaboration

Ability to work successfully among the council, chapters, staff, and larger community

  • Education icon

    Education

Ability to educate all council members about necessary, relevant, and progressive topics

  • Innovation icon

    Innovation

Ability to go beyond what has been created or achieved before; critical and creative thinking that leads to cutting edge programs and initiatives

Levels of Achievement

The Council Compass uses a common application for all council types. Councils can work towards success at three levels:

  1. One Star

  2. Two Star

  3. Three Star

Review our Submission Tips during an upcoming council meeting to determine the level that best aligns with your council’s goals and achievements for the current academic year. Council achievements will look different for everyone. It is possible to achieve different levels for each of the four Council Compass categories.

Throughout the process, we’ll offer educational materials to support your councils as you embark on the awards application program and will answer questions to set you up for a successful application process and experience.
